driving across wyoming was very peaceful and beautiful

we were sorry to leave the roads and countryside behind

i didn't take many photographs beyond wyoming

(i was busy knitting)

but nebraska, iowa, and indiana were beautiful

and so was western pennsylvania

Out of the West

goodbye California...

driving up through utah towards salt lake city

we hit a snowstorm

we saw it coming down from the mountains 

and drove on into it

after being in san diego, where its 80 degrees

on the regular, it was unexpected and beautiful.

we thought we might have to stop and let it pass

but we kept going and made it up to our hotel in lehi

the next day we drove stopped at a waterfowl preserve

on the shores of the great salt lake

on to wyoming

the 600 seeds in a pomegranate fruit

this place was amazing!  so many different kinds of cacti and succulents.  the kind of place it is very easy to get out of control and spend tons of $$>  i have to go back before i leave...maybe just one more little plant?

the larger of the cacti (minnie rita) is one of the more serious ones to get stick in your fingers, it's spikes have little barbs so that if you get one stuck in your finger you have to take it out with a pair of pliers!  the (very friendly & knowledgeable) fellows who work at the nursery said that you should plant it by wrapping a thick rag around it so as to not touch the spikes while tapping the pot off of it.  once i picked it out i couldn't give back just because it was a little dangerous...
