the 600 seeds in a pomegranate fruit

pomegranate tree growing, spied on a walk around coronado island

exotic gardens, san diego

this place was amazing!  so many different kinds of cacti and succulents.  the kind of place it is very easy to get out of control and spend tons of $$>  i have to go back before i leave...maybe just one more little plant?

the larger of the cacti (minnie rita) is one of the more serious ones to get stick in your fingers, it's spikes have little barbs so that if you get one stuck in your finger you have to take it out with a pair of pliers!  the (very friendly & knowledgeable) fellows who work at the nursery said that you should plant it by wrapping a thick rag around it so as to not touch the spikes while tapping the pot off of it.  once i picked it out i couldn't give back just because it was a little dangerous...

hidden canyon

scarlet lobelia

hanging gardens

for our last full day at Zion, in the morning we went for a walk by the river, a different trail up by the narrowest part of the canyon.

in the afternoon we weren't too tired and got ambitious.  we did some more hiking on a trail called hidden canyon.

it was so gorgeous!  fine white sand separated from the navajo sandstone all around us covered the floor of the canyon.

a magical world, high up between the sandstones...

it was such a wonderful trip; all my favorite people, a beautiful place.  so thankful!
