saw this sheila hicks piece... rubber bands and a key looped and knotted around each other.  it reminded me of my grandfather.  he used to send me boxes of rubber bands he collected from years of newspapers and vegetables.  he kept them with his key collection, hanging from an old telephone in his kitchen.

the sun always looks smaller in photos.  i like my commute right now, i'm in sync with the sunrise.

made plum jam...

the color!

these are local plums so i guess they can get thrown over the riverbank in hopes of a plum tree.

we ate it all the foam on toast right away.  i know some
people don't eat it, but in my family we always thought it was the best part.

bringing plants in for the winter

this one is going to the forest room.  it's nice to have another place to go with plants for the winter...  running out of room in the house

bird feeder in the forest room.  every room in the school has one.  we are seeing tons of chickadees, nuthatches, goldfinches...  the kids know way more about birds and identification than i do

goodbye summer, and thank you.

i've made a few end of summer trips to the river just to say goodbye.  wildflowers are going to seed, things are looking more and more golden and brown.  it is a beautiful time of year and i am glad to be on the east coast again.  there is nothing like fall in the catskills.
